Flash Floods Severely Impact Multiple Areas in Ishkoman
Ishkoman: Flash floods triggered by the melting Badswat Glacier in Ishkoman have caused significant damage, sweeping away the temporary bridge and nearly 1,000 feet of road in Badswat.
The flood has severed the land connection between Badswat and Mutramdan, leaving the upper areas of Ganjabad, Borth, Bazar Katu, Yazben, and Mutramdan isolated. Approximately 400 households in these regions are now facing severe difficulties in accessing basic necessities, transportation, and schooling for children.
In Ishkoman Proper, the villages of Center Kot, Faizabad Bala, and Kot Pain have also been affected by the flash floods, with land connections cut off at three different locations. The bridge in Kot Pain is under threat of complete erosion by the river
In Ishkoman Kot, five residential houses have been damaged by the floods. Four shops and cattle sheds have also been partially affected.
Five major irrigation channels in Ishkoman Proper have been damaged, raising concerns over the drying up of fertile lands due to disrupted water supply.
Near the RCC Bridge in Mominabad, continuous river erosion poses a significant threat to the population of Mominabad Khari, DJ High School, Government School, and the forest plantation in the area. The situation remains precarious, with urgent measures needed to prevent further damage.
