AKDN has pledged 10 million euro toward the Paris Peace Forum’s new endowment fund to support the long-term financial stability and ambitious growth strategy for the Forum.
AKDN is a founding member of the Paris Peace Forum, which opened for its 8th edition today. International organisations, civil society and the private sector have gathered to seek “New Coalitions for Peace, People and the Planet.” In a time marked by fragmentation and conflict, this year’s Paris Peace Forum underscores the urgency of forging new alliances for collective action.
“The challenges of our century require institutions that can sustain long-term, courageous work across borders and sectors,” said Mawlana Hazar Imam. “The Paris Peace Forum has shown it can convene diverse actors and catalyse solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. With this pledge, the Aga Khan Development Network is proud to support the Forum’s enduring capacity to innovate for peace and equity.”
Several representatives from the Aga Khan Foundation are participating in this year’s sessions on women’s leadership, youth action and energy access, as well as presenting a flagship peacebuilding initiative in Afghanistan.
AKDN’s partnership with the Paris Peace Forum reflects the Ismaili Imamat’s long-standing collaboration with the French Republic and commitment to historic shared values of peace, human development and pluralism. The Forum’s inclusive approach resonates with AKDN’s decades-long commitment to development through partnerships with governments, civil society and the private sector.
Ismaili CIVIC volunteers from France, Belgium, and Switzerland contributed to the organising of this year’s Forum, and were on hand to welcome guests, coordinate roundtable discussions, moderate panels, and arrange ancillary activities.
