Former Member of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Javed Hussain, has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a child in Hunza, expressing deep sorrow and concern over the tragic incident.
He said that crimes involving sexual abuse of children are deeply alarming and represent a serious challenge for society. Such incidents not only cause severe emotional and psychological trauma to the victims and their families but also create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within the community.
Javed Hussain urged the higher authorities and relevant institutions to ensure that those responsible are given the strictest punishment in accordance with the law, so that the affected family receives justice and such crimes are effectively deterred in the future.
He stressed that statements and temporary measures alone are not enough to protect children. Effective and practical steps, strict enforcement of the law, and proper oversight of responsible institutions must be ensured to prevent such incidents.
The former legislator also expressed concern over another alleged incident reported within the premises of a hospital in Islamabad, stating that relevant institutions must fulfil their responsibilities to ensure the safety and protection of every citizen, including children and women.
He called for transparent investigations into such incidents, the accountability of those responsible, and concrete measures to prevent similar crimes in the future.
