🚨 Gilgit-Baltistan Update 🚨

Under the chairmanship of Raja Zakaria Maqpoon, PTI GB’s provincial cabinet has decided to hold peaceful public demonstrations across Gilgit-Baltistan on August 5, in line with founding chaitman Imran Khan’s call and directives from provincial president Khalid Khurshid.

The protests aim to demand Imran Khan’s release, restoration of the constitution & democracy, judicial independence, and rule of law.

Final plan will be announced after consultation with allied parties, tomorrow.

Gilgit: Health Department Launches Awareness Campaign on Importance of Breastfeeding

The Health Department, during a press briefing at the Gilgit Press Club, emphasized that mother’s milk is a complete and irreplaceable source of nutrition for infants.

Officials highlighted that formula or packaged milk can never be a substitute for breast milk and may increase the risk of frequent illnesses and nutritional deficiencies in children.

The department strongly advised exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life.

After six months, parents are encouraged to gradually introduce semi-solid foods and homemade meals while continuing breastfeeding until the child is at least two years old.

It was further noted that the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) program, launched in 2018 and continued by successive governments, has been contributing immensely to the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding. The program is regarded as a key intervention in preventing malnutrition among children, particularly stunting and acute malnutrition across Gilgit-Baltistan.
