"Roshni Publication is the largest and most respected Sindhi-language trade publisher in the Sindh. Headquartered in Hyderabad, the company's commercial activity includes the publishing of its own books in Sindhi, as well as in English, and Urdu, and the distribution of books to local publishers. Founded in 1980, Roshni Publication began publishing in 1981 with three titles. Today, the company publishes more than 50 new titles every year and has an active back list of over 800 titles. Known for its strong fiction and narrative non-fiction list, Roshni Publication has published across virtually every segment, including short-stories, travelogues ,History, Philosophy, biography, politics, history, education, science and religion. Whether journalist Hamid Mir's claim holds true or not, that 1,561 teachers recruited into Sindh's government schools were under matric, inducted through bribery, one thing is certain: the education department can't deny its own statistics. Not with the corruption it's mired in, tops transparency International's corruption index. 7.8 million children are out of school. 1.2 million have dropped out. 6.6 million have never seen a classroom. Schools stand without electricity, without buildings, without washrooms or boundary walls, some without even chairs and tables. This, despite no shortage of funds. Literacy keeps declining, the same failures documented in almost every report since 2012. This is what Sindh's education system has become over the last two decades especially, not a lack of resources but a lack of political will. The rejection of new provinces is a separate fight, and it stands on its own merit in Sindh. But that fight cannot be used to launder governance failures or to sideline urgent, critical discourse on matters that demand attention. Nationalism is not currency to spend covering up corruption and bad governance, no party or government earns the right to trade one for the other.
