وزیراعظم پاکستان محمد شہباز شریف نے دوحا میں امیرِ قطر شیخ تمیم بن حمد آل ثانی سے ملاقات کے دوران امتِ مسلمہ کے اتحاد کو وقت کی سب سے بڑی ضرورت قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان، قطر کے ساتھ بھرپور یکجہتی اور مکمل حمایت کے ساتھ کھڑا ہے۔

قطر کے دارالحکومت دوحہ میں حماس کی قیادت پر کیے گئے اسرائیلی فضائی حملے کے بعد عالمی سطح پر شدید ردعمل سامنے آیا ہے۔ اسی تناظر میں اقوام متحدہ کی انسانی حقوق کونسل کا ایک ہنگامی اجلاس آج جنیوا میں طلب کیا گیا ہے۔ یہ اجلاس پاکستان اور کویت کی مشترکہ درخواست پر بلایا گیا ہے، جس میں خاص طور پر حماس رہنماؤں کے خلاف اسرائیلی کارروائیوں اور اس کے خطے پر مرتب ہونے والے ممکنہ اثرات پر غور کیا جائے گا۔

اسرائیل نے اس اجلاس کو غیر سنجیدہ اور مضحکہ خیز قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ اگر کونسل نے کوئی فیصلہ یا قرارداد منظور کی تو وہ انسانی حقوق کے عالمی نظام کے لیے بدنما داغ ثابت ہوگا۔ اسرائیلی موقف کے مطابق انسانی حقوق کے فورمز کو سیاسی تنازعات کے لیے استعمال نہیں ہونا چاہیے۔

بلوچستان کے ضلع کیچ کے علاقے شیر بندی میں قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں کے کلیئرنس آپریشن کے دوران ایک المناک واقعہ پیش آیا، جہاں بارودی سرنگ (آئی ای ڈی) کے دھماکے میں پاک فوج کے پانچ جوان مادرِ وطن پر قربان ہو کر شہادت کے اعلیٰ رتبے پر فائز ہوگئے۔

The transgender community in Pakistan continues to bear the brunt of systemic neglect and societal prejudice. Despite constitutional guarantees of equality and protection, their daily lives remain marked by violence, exclusion, and indignity. Statistics from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tell a tragic story: 267 cases of violence against transgender persons were recorded in 2024 alone, yet only one case saw conviction. Such numbers reveal not only the cruelty of the perpetrators but also the indifference of the state and its justice system. When institutions fail to protect, injustice becomes routine.

The recent decision by a jirga in Swabi — declaring that all transgender persons should be expelled from the district — exemplifies how criminal othering has become entrenched. Their only “crime” was participating in a music programme, followed by a clash with police that led to the arrest of two trans persons. Instead of receiving protection, they were further vilified. Such collective intolerance is alarming, for it seeks to erase an entire community from public life. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan rightly condemned this move, affirming that no citizen can be denied the right to reside or earn a livelihood based on gender identity. Yet condemnation alone cannot dismantle deep-rooted prejudice.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s blunt message in Bannu has once again placed Pakistan’s core security dilemma at the center of South Asia’s geopolitics. His statement—“choose between Pakistan and TTP”—was more than symbolic rhetoric. It was a clear reminder to Kabul’s rulers that Pakistan cannot indefinitely tolerate the Afghan Taliban’s ambiguity on violent actors, particularly the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). For Islamabad, the equation appears simple: either the Taliban dismantle sanctuaries for groups staging cross-border attacks, or they risk diplomatic isolation, economic marginalization, and even retaliatory actions from their neighbors.

Yet, this equation is far more complex in practice. Pakistan has tried both the carrot and the stick with Afghanistan’s Taliban regime. Diplomacy, led by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar through repeated visits to Kabul, has sought to convince Afghan leaders that cooperation benefits both sides. A trilateral framework with China has been designed to offer incentives for normalization—economic integration, trade facilitation, and greater recognition for the Taliban. On the other hand, Pakistan has also demonstrated its willingness to employ force, launching kinetic strikes against militant hideouts in Afghan territory. Neither approach, however, has fundamentally shifted the Taliban’s calculus.
