The Pakistan Army is currently carrying out a powerful retaliatory operation after Afghan forces launched unprovoked firing at multiple locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, and Kurram, security sources said on Saturday.
The ongoing aggression, reportedly aimed at facilitating Khawarij militants’ infiltration into Pakistan, has prompted an immediate and forceful counter-response from Pakistani troops.
According to sources, several Afghan posts have been destroyed, with heavy losses inflicted on Afghan soldiers and militant elements. Artillery, tanks, drones, and air assets are actively targeting militant hideouts and command centres inside Afghanistan.
Security officials described the situation as “tense but under control,” adding that the border operation continues.
The escalation comes as Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi visits India — a development sources called “notable and concerning” amid rising cross-border tensions.
