A Senate subcommittee on Wednesday uncovered shocking details behind the failure of 63,000 Pakistani pilgrims to perform Hajj last year and blamed the Ministry of Religious Affairs for all of it.

China has expressed keen interest in investing in Pakistan's agriculture sector especially in seed development, smart irrigation systems and agro-processing.

The interest was shown by a Chinese delegation comprising agri scientists and private sector representatives at a meeting with Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on exploring enhanced cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and developing joint strategies to modernize Pakistan's agricultural sector.

China and the United States have conducted what both sides described as “in-depth, candid, and constructive” discussions on key economic and trade matters in Stockholm, Sweden. The two-day meeting was part of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism and aimed at building on the progress made during the phone call between the two heads of state on June 5.

Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, briefed reporters following the meeting. He emphasised that both countries share a common understanding of the importance of maintaining a stable and healthy trade relationship.

The Punjab government has announced a subsidy of Rs 3,000 per bag on DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) fertilizer for wheat farmers during the upcoming Rabi 2025–26 season.
