We are bursting with pride to share that he has been awarded the prestigious Karen Sparrow Scholarship 2025 by the Peek Vision Foundation in the United Kingdom. This honour celebrates his incredible contributions to Digital Transformation and Data-Driven Eye Health.

As part of this scholarship, he will represent Pakistan on a global stage at the Global Eye Health Short Course organized by the renowned London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

IEEE Travel Grant winners Abdul Samad Sipio and Anas Aamir Memon, accompanied by Dr Mahesh Kumar (Branch Counselor, IEEE MUET Student Branch), Dr Umair Ahmed (Advisor, IEEE ComSoc MUET SBC), and student officers, were warmly congratulated by Prof. Dr. Ashfaque Ahmed Hashmani, Dean FEECE MUET.

PRIDE OF MUET proudly highlights the remarkable success of Engr. Khalid Hussain Soomro, a graduate of the Department of Mining Engineering (Batch 2013).

Hailing from Sindh, Pakistan, Khalid has demonstrated that a strong foundation from MUET, combined with dedication and continuous learning, paves the way to global opportunities. After completing his bachelor’s degree at MUET, he began his career in the mining and cement industry, where he discovered his passion for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

He dedicated himself to becoming a world-class expert, acquiring prestigious international certifications including NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, and becoming a Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. His professional journey led him to contribute to major projects in Saudi Arabia, including NEOM and the Red Sea Global (RSG) project.

Currently, he serves as an HSE Specialist Consultant at the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), one of the largest utility companies in the Middle East.

Khalid’s journey—from the lecture halls of Jamshoro to a leadership role in a critical sector in Saudi Arabia—serves as a powerful inspiration for future engineers. MUET takes immense pride in his achievements and wishes him continued success in his professional pursuits.

PRIDE OF MUET proudly highlights the remarkable success of Zakir Hussain, a graduate of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering (Batch 2019–2023).

Hailing from Qamber Ali Khan (SINDH), Zakir has demonstrated that dedication and perseverance pave the way to global opportunities. After completing his bachelor’s degree at MUET, he began his career as a Research Assistant, contributing to research and innovation.

Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s in Software Science and Technology at the University of Florence, Italy, and has recently been selected under the prestigious Erasmus+ Program to study at the Bialystok University of Technology, Poland .

Zakir’s journey—from a small town to esteemed institutions across Europe—serves as an inspiration for future engineers and scholars. MUET takes immense pride in his achievements and wishes him continued success in his academic and professional pursuits.
