Early this morning, Russia launched a massive barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Kyiv and the surrounding region. According to Ukrainian officials, the overnight assault involved 24 ballistic missiles alongside hypersonic/supersonic missiles and over 100 drones. Ukrainian air defenses were reportedly unable to intercept the incoming ballistic missiles due to critical shortages of interceptors for U.S.-made Patriot systems. Reports from local authorities and companies on the ground—including major private postal operator Nova Poshta—indicated that cluster munitions were utilized during the strikes, heavily damaging logistics infrastructure, commercial warehouses, and postal sorting facilities. The widespread attacks across Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast resulted in multiple fatalities and dozens of injuries, triggering extensive rescue and firefighting operations.
