On this day, 1 November 1922 CE, the Ottoman Sultanate was finally abolished by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The Dream of Osman lasted for 623 years.
During this time a total of 36 Sultans (excluding Ottoman Interregnum) ruled this massive empire. The empire was spread over 3 continents and was one of the longest-lasting empires in the world. There were more than 272 Grand Viziers who worked as prime ministers for the Sultan.
The last sultan, Mehmed VI (reigned 1918–22), was exiled and left the country on 17 November 1922. The subsequent Treaty of Lausanne in 1923 saw the establishment of the Republic of Turkey on 29 October 1923 with Mustafa Kemal Ataturk serving as its first president. This year (2024) marks the 102nd anniversary of its dissolution.

دو قومی نظریے کے خالق سرسید احمد خان کا آج 207 واں یوم پیدائش منایا جارہا ہے۔ سرسید احمد خان برصغیر میں مسلم نشاتِ ثانیہ کے بہت بڑے علمبردار تھے۔ انہوں نے مسلمانوں میں بیداری علم کی تحریک پیدا کرنے میں بہت اہم کردار ادا کیا۔ وہ انیسویں صدی کے بہت بڑے مصلح اور رہبر تھے۔ سنہ 1870ء میں آپ نے رسالہ تہذیب الاخلاق لکھا جس میں آپ نے مسلمانوں کے ان معاشرتی پہلووٕں کی نشاندہی کی جن کی اصلاح کرنا مقصود تھی اور مسلمانوں کو تلقین کی کہ وہ اپنے ان پہلووٕں کی فوری اصلاح کریں۔ سرسید احمد خان نے 27 دسمبر 1886ء کو محمڈن ایجوکیشنل کانفرنس کی بنیاد رکھی اس کانفرنس کا بنیادی مقصد مسلمانوں کی تعلیمی ترقی کے لئے اقدامات کرنا تھا۔ آپ کو جا طور پر پاکستان کے بانیوں میں شمار کیا جاتا ہے۔ سر سید احمد خان نے 81 سال کی عمر میں 27 مارچ 1898ء میں وفات پائی۔
