At the age of 21 (1453),
Sultān Mehmet II al-Fātih, led the Ottomans and conquered Constantinople after a 53 day siege.
The city would become the new Ottoman capital and be popularly known as Islāmbul.

His inspiration was this Hadīth Sharīf of the Beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم who said,

"Indeed you shall conquer Constantinople. What an excellent leader will her leader be, and what an excellent army will that army be!".
