The K-IV water project for Karachi is now being completed by WAPDA, while MQM is overseeing its progress, with claims that the initiative will help make the city tanker-free. MNA Farooq Sattar said efforts are underway to eliminate Karachi’s dependence on water tankers.

He also highlighted development projects such as Northern Bypass, Lyari Expressway, truck stand, and trauma center, stating that their work cannot be matched. Criticising the Sindh government, he added that billions were spent on K-IV earlier before it was taken over by the federal government for completion.

JI Chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, while speaking on Eid-ul-Adha, said that citizens continued performing sacrifices despite severe civic issues and appreciated the collective qurbani arrangements at around 150 locations.

He criticized Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab over his statement that there is no water crisis in the city, saying that around 70% of Karachi is facing disrupted water supply and is forced to rely on water tankers. He added that several areas are also affected due to a power breakdown at Dhabeji on May 21, which impacted Water Line 5, and questioned why the Dhabeji pipeline is often affected during Eid days.

He further said that this situation repeats every year and alleged that authorities are not performing their duties properly, as Karachi continues to face severe water shortages, with even previously supplied areas now deprived of water.

He also alleged corruption in the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, stating that despite a Rs 43 billion budget, the department has failed to ensure proper cleanliness and waste management across the city.

The initiative aims to provide relief and support to underprivileged households so they can also enjoy meat during Eid-ul-Adha. Under this welfare effort, JDC teams are reaching out to deserving families across different slum areas of Karachi as well as outside their offices to ensure easy and fair distribution of Qurbani meat.

Chairman New Karachi Town Muhammad Yousuf raised concerns over the performance of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) on Eid-ul-Adha, saying that despite a budget of 43 billion rupees, the department has failed to manage animal waste in Karachi.

He said that the situation of cleanliness in the city remains poor and many areas are affected due to garbage and road blockages. He added that repeated complaints have been made and officials have also been shown affected sites, but no proper action has been taken by SSWMB, even though a separate budget is allocated for Eid-ul-Adha operations.

He further said, “I will request NAB to take action against the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, as despite a 43 billion rupee budget, their performance has completely failed. The question remains where this budget is actually being spent.”
