Unemployment

Intel is cutting around 24,000 jobs—nearly a quarter of its workforce—as it restructures under new CEO Lip-Bu Tan. The company is canceling major projects in Germany and Poland, scaling back operations in Costa Rica, and slowing construction in Ohio.

These changes follow the shutdown of Intel's automotive chip division and other cost-cutting moves. Despite a $2.9 billion loss this quarter, Intel plans to launch new chips like Panther Lake and Nova Lake, with Tan now personally approving all major designs.

The company is also preparing a new AI strategy and leadership for its data center unit.
