*DUET Vice Chancellor Delivers Keynote at Pakistan–China Symposium on Early warning systems in Hydrological Disaster Management*

Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), Vice Chancellor, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, attended the prestigious Pakistan–China Symposium on Early Warning Systems in Hydrological Disaster Management, organized at the NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad.

As Keynote Speaker, she delivered an insightful address on “Partnerships for Capacity Building & Knowledge Exchange Programs,” emphasizing the role of trainings in fostering resilience and preparedness through collaborative research, data driven customised trainings, and international cooperation.

The symposium, hosted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Pakistan, in collaboration with Chinese counterparts, aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in developing modernized early warning systems for hydrological disasters, thereby strengthening disaster risk management capacities.

On this occasion, DG NIDM, Air Cmdr (R) Dr. Tanveer Paracha presented a souvenir to the Vice Chancellor as a mark of appreciation for her valuable contributions.

Connecting Generations, Reviving History

As part of our ongoing celebrations of Marka e Haq & Youm e Azadi Dawood University's students, faculty, staff, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I) visited Edhi old home, Qasba Colony engaging in an inclusive activity with senior citizens. The intergenerational dialogue was a powerful experience, with elders sharing stories of migration, the 1965 war, and the bravery of our armed forces.

The students were deeply moved by these firsthand accounts, rekindling their passion for Pakistan and appreciation for our heroes. As a token of appreciation, the university presented gifts of Ajrak and Wrist Watches to the senior citizens and distributed meals, fostering a sense of community and gratitude.

Through this initiative, we aim to bridge the gap between generations, preserve our history, and inspire the youth to honor the sacrifices of our armed forces. A heartfelt tribute to our soldiers under the brave leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for the success in Operation Bunyanun Marsoos and unwavering dedication to our nation."
