8Pakistan–Thailand Business Council Hosts High-Level Meeting to Strengthen Bilateral Trade8
The Pakistan–Thailand Business Council of FPCCI convened a high-profile meeting with H.E. Mr. Surashete Boontinand, Consul General of Thailand in Karachi, and Mr. Panutat Yodkaew, Deputy Consul, alongside Dr. Mansoor Wassan, Director General of the Marine Fisheries Department, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Government of Pakistan. The meeting was spearheaded by Mr. Muslim Mohamedi, Chairman of the Council, former Vice President of FPCCI, and Advisor to the Federal Tax Ombudsman, Islamabad.
The proceedings were conducted by Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President FPCCI, with active participation from Mr. Asif Inam and Mr. Aman Paracha, Vice Presidents FPCCI; Mr. Mian Zahid Hussain, Chairman Advisory Board FPCCI; Mr. Mian Arshad Farooq, Ex-VP FPCCI; Mr. Mazhar Nasir, Ex-SVP FPCCI; and Mr. Shabbir M. Churra, Ex-VP FPCCI.
A highlight of the meeting was the presence of Pakistan’s iconic business leader Mr. Bashir Jan Mohammad, Chairman of Dalda Group and Chancellor of IOBM (CBM) University, whose valuable insights were greatly appreciated. Over 60 distinguished business personalities from various sectors also attended the session.
Among the notable participants were Mr. Muhammad Umar Shah, Chairman of the Diplomatic Business Club and Convener of the Business & Trade Promotion Committee at FPCCI; Mr. Ali Vazir, Secretary General *also Mr.Mr.Naeem Haroon, Waheed Punjwani, Owais ADmani of Members of Diplomatic Business Club; and other respected members of the business community*
The discussion centered on the current state of trade between Pakistan and Thailand, identifying key deterrents and exploring practical solutions to overcome them. The agenda covered a wide array of sectors including automobiles, fisheries and aquaculture, jewelry, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.
A consensus was reached to enhance institutional coordination between the Pakistan–Thailand Business Council and the Royal Thai Consulate. The council will actively facilitate B2B meetings, trade delegations, and promotional events to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The meeting concluded with a graceful ceremonial presentation of mementos to H.E. Mr. Surashete Boontinand and Dr. Mansoor Wassan, honoring their contributions and ongoing support for trade facilitation between the two nations.
