Asma’s dream was to become a mechanical engineer, but her dreams were hampered due to her financial status. She didn’t lose hope, instead, she was determined to change her status quo so that her siblings could continue and complete their education.

Asma’s story has taught us, that dreams are not abandoned, but only recreated in different ways. She has now become an earning member of her family and plans to continue her further studies.

As part of Pathways to Success (PTS) Project’s third component, Engro Foundation along with its key implementing partner Indus Resource Centre (IRC) partnered with various schools in Karachi and Ghotki to train young girls in Life Skills Based Education.

In Karachi, Engro Foundation ventured into the Lyari Town, which has developed a formidable image. Contrary to its image, it was a very positive and interesting area to work in.

This component of the project was found the most challenging as it involved several local government approvals which took substantial time, effort and persistence. However, it was also most rewarding and heartening to reach, engage and train and 1100+ girls from schools in Karachi and Ghotki.
