The Punjab government has launched a groundbreaking initiative to promote cooperative farming, aimed at enhancing the production of tomatoes, onions, and other key vegetables. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the project offers subsidies to groups of 5-10 farmers, ensuring they receive essential inputs like seeds, fertilizers, drip irrigation systems, and solar-powered technology.

In its first phase, the project will focus on cultivating off-season onions across 2,000 acres in Kahror Pakka, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, and Rajanpur, alongside tomato production in Khushab, Chakwal, Pindi, and Jhelum.

This cooperative farming approach is expected to stabilize the supply of these essential vegetables across Punjab for up to six months, reducing the risk of artificial price hikes and ensuring affordability for consumers.
