Every trimester brings new changes for both mom and baby! 🌸

💗 1st Trimester | 1–13 Weeks
Early pregnancy scan, gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole, heartbeat & CRL may be assessed. 🍼

💛 2nd Trimester | 14–27 Weeks
The baby grows rapidly. A detailed anatomy/anomaly scan is commonly performed around 18–22 weeks. 🧠🫀

💙 3rd Trimester | 28–40 Weeks
Growth, fetal position, placenta, amniotic fluid and other important parameters may be assessed depending on the clinical need. 👶✨

📌 Remember: The timing and type of ultrasound can vary depending on your doctor’s advice and your pregnancy.

🍓 Strawberry-Shaped Skull on Ultrasound 👶🩺

Have you ever heard of the “Strawberry Skull” sign? 🍓

On ultrasound, the fetal skull may appear strawberry-shaped due to flattening of the occiput and pointing/narrowing of the frontal bones. This is an abnormal skull shape that should be carefully evaluated.

🔎 Why is it important?
The strawberry-shaped skull is most commonly associated with Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), although the finding can occur with other fetal abnormalities as well.

⚠️ Important: This ultrasound sign alone does not confirm a diagnosis. When it is seen, the sonographer/doctor should look for other associated abnormalities and recommend appropriate further evaluation.
