A 4-week plan to hit like a pro 💪.
Got you — let's build that 4-week cage routine so you can switch from clean cricket drives to solid baseball contact without thinking twice.
Week 1 is all about foundation. Go 3 times to the cage. Start with 15 minutes of tee work or shadow drives, no ball, just getting your stance, head still, and weight transfer right. For cricket, think front foot drive with that high elbow and full face presentation. For baseball, think level path through the zone, hips leading hands. Then do 30-40 balls of soft toss - 20 cricket drives off a side-arm throw, 20 baseball swings off the tee or soft toss. Finish with eyes-closed balance drill, 10 reps each.
Week 2 we add timing and placement. 3 sessions again. Warm up the same way, then do the V-drive drill for cricket: set three cones straight, extra cover, and mid-off and try to hit 5 balls through each gap with a full follow through. For baseball, do inside-outside tee work, move the tee from inside corner to outside and keep the barrel in the zone longer. Then 20 minutes in the bowling machine / pitching machine at 70% speed, alternating 6 balls cricket, 6 balls baseball so your brain learns to switch quickly.
Week 3 is power and consistency. Bump to 4 shorter sessions if you can. Add resistance band rotations and medicine ball throws before you hit, just 2 sets of 10. In the cage, do the one-hand drill, top hand only for cricket drives to fix that elbow, bottom hand only for baseball to keep hands inside. Then live pace - 50 balls total, call your shot before you swing, like "cover drive" or "line drive to center". If you miss the call, it doesn't count.
Week 4 is game simulation. 3 sessions. No tee. Straight into machine at match pace. Over 1: cricket, 6 balls, only score with drives along the ground. Over 2: baseball, 6 pitches, only line drives, no pop-ups. Repeat for 30 minutes. Last 10 minutes every session is pressure finish, you have to hit 8 out of 10 clean to leave.
Quick cage tips that help both sports: film your side view on your phone, keep front shoulder closed a fraction longer, and always finish with 10 easy, perfect swings to lock in muscle memory.
Want me to tailor this for how many days you can actually get to the nets in Karachi, and whether you want more focus on cricket drives or baseball power?
