Gold and Silver Prices Surge Again Amid Global Uncertainty
Gold and silver prices continued their upward climb both internationally and in Pakistan, driven by global economic jitters and rising geopolitical tensions.
In the international market, gold jumped $71 to reach $5,108 per ounce. Locally, one tola of gold surged by Rs7,100, hitting a record Rs533,562, while 10 grams rose by Rs6,087 to Rs457,443. Silver also gained ground, with one tola up Rs374 to Rs8,948 and 10 grams increasing by Rs321 to Rs7,671.
The rally follows weaker-than-expected US GDP data and heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, prompting investors to seek safe-haven assets like bullion.
Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan injected Rs1.57 trillion through open market operations (OMO), including Rs210.5 billion via Shariah-compliant Mudarabah-based instruments at a rate of 10.54%.
Gold’s momentum in Pakistan mirrors global trends, with prices climbing steadily throughout the week. On Thursday alone, gold jumped Rs7,900 per tola, and silver also posted gains of Rs170.
As inflation concerns and geopolitical risks persist, market watchers expect precious metals to remain in demand.
