🟢 WHAT IF HAL JORDAN ISN'T ACTUALLY DEAD?
When Lanterns revealed Hal Jordan's dead body in Episode 1, a lot of people immediately assumed that Kyle Chandler's Hal was finished. His body was found in the Rushville stadium with a bullet wound to the head, his nose was broken, and most importantly, his Green Lantern ring was missing. But after everything we've learned through Episode 6 and the new midseason trailer, I'm starting to think the show may have been deliberately showing us a fake death rather than the real end of Hal Jordan.
The first strange detail is the ring. At the end of Episode 5, John takes Hal's ring and gives it to the Guardian Lianna because John refuses to become a Green Lantern. Yet when Hal's body is discovered, the ring is already gone. We later learn that Guy Gardner is the current Green Lantern, but there are still questions about exactly what happened to Hal's original ring and why the story has been so careful about showing us different rings and their appearances.
Then the midseason trailer gives us something much more interesting. We see Hal lying on the floor, and there's a mark on his arm that looks remarkably similar to the mark John had after Zoe healed him using Manhunter technology. That could be completely unrelated, but if the Manhunter technology can take a tissue sample while healing someone, it raises a very interesting possibility: could someone have used that technology to create a copy of Hal?
And then there's the scene where another figure approaches Hal. Hal looks at the person and asks, “Why are you?” The trailer doesn't show us who that person is, but the combination of the strange mark, the apparent second Hal and everything we've already learned about Manhunter technology has made the Hal clone theory much harder to ignore.
There's another strange clue involving Hector's slaughterhouse. The trailer and previous episodes have already established that something unusual is happening around that location, and the theory suggests that the strange behavior of the workers and the repeated use of cloned animals could be hinting at something much bigger: a facility capable of cloning living beings. If that's true, could Hal be one of the people being cloned rather than simply another victim?
The biggest question then becomes who would clone Hal and why?
One theory points toward Noah, Zoe's grandson. He's now old enough to have his own agenda, and he grew up knowing that his grandmother was the Manhunter. Perhaps he has learned things about the Manhunters that John and Hal never discovered. The theory suggests that Noah could have created a duplicate Hal and used the fake body to lure John back to Rushville as part of some kind of revenge against the people responsible for Zoe's death.
I'm not completely convinced by that part, though. If someone really did create a Hal clone, the bigger question would be what happened to the real Hal? Was he being held somewhere? Did he escape? Or was the original plan to kill him after the clone had served its purpose?
And then we have Lianna.
The Guardians have been suspicious from the beginning, and Lianna clearly knows more about John Stewart than she initially admits. Sinestro also somehow knows who John is despite being imprisoned far away from Earth. That raises the possibility that someone has been feeding Sinestro information about John, the Guardians and what has been happening on Earth.
Could Lianna and Sinestro secretly be working together?
That's where another much bigger theory comes into play.
What if the ultimate goal isn't simply to kill Hal, but to control him?
Sinestro has always represented the idea of fear, and we've already seen how powerful he can be. If someone could manipulate Hal Jordan or turn him against the Guardians, they could potentially use one of the most powerful Lanterns in existence as a weapon. Whether that eventually connects to Parallax is still completely unconfirmed, but the possibility fits surprisingly well with the themes the show has been building around fear, control and the Guardians' experiments.
Then there's the mysterious Yellow Lantern angle.
If someone is secretly producing yellow power rings, Guy Gardner could become an important part of the plan. Perhaps Guy has Hal's ring simply because he's been given possession of it, while John is eventually led toward the people manufacturing the yellow rings. And if Sinestro is involved, it's difficult not to wonder whether he has a much bigger plan waiting for the final episodes.
But there's one huge problem with the theory:
How does Hal's possible cloning connect to the Yellow Lantern storyline?
Right now, we don't have a confirmed answer.
That's why I wouldn't call this a prediction of what Lanterns is definitely going to do. The show hasn't confirmed that Hal was cloned, that Noah is responsible, that Lianna and Sinestro are working together, or that Parallax is involved. Those are theories built from clues in the episodes and trailer.
But there is one thing that makes the theory especially interesting: the show has already introduced Manhunter technology capable of healing people using advanced biological processes, and the trailer deliberately shows a mysterious mark on Hal that resembles the mark left on John. That's a very specific visual clue to simply ignore.
And then there's the biggest clue of all...
Hal's story clearly isn't finished.
Episode 6 ends with John using Hal's ring to activate the Halogram, a digital version of Hal's consciousness. That doesn't mean the real Hal is alive, but it does mean the writers have found a way to keep Hal involved in the story even after his apparent death. Meanwhile, the midseason trailer shows scenes that suggest we're going to learn much more about what happened to Hal before and after the shooting.
So I'm not saying “Hal is definitely alive.”
I'm saying the show has given us enough strange clues to ask a much more interesting question:
What if the body in that stadium wasn't actually Hal Jordan? 👀🟢
If that's where this story is going, the final two episodes could completely change everything we thought happened in Rushville.
