A Tribute to the Backbone of Our World
They leave their home before the light,
And come back late into the night.
Not seeking gold or riches grand,
Just working hard with heart and hand.
They skip their meals, ignore the pain,
To keep their loved ones safe and sane.
A single smile, a warm embrace,
Wipes every worry from their face.
They don’t know what the future holds,
But still they fight, strong and bold.
Though pockets empty, hearts are full,
Their family’s joy makes life less dull.
Their hands are rough, their fingers worn,
From every brick and bag they’ve borne.
They give with love, though having less,
Their quiet strength, we should confess.
This life is tough, it’s not a dream,
But still they swim against the stream.
Each wrinkle tells a tale of grace—
Of battles fought they did not chase.
To every worker, near and far,
You are the ones who raise the bar.
Today we honour all you do—
This world stands strong because of you.
