It was an impulsive plan for a quick online meeting. After dropping my boys for their football match, I looked for a place nearby. I drove into Raya—which now restricts entry for most—and luckily, the guard recognized me and let me in without a word, while others were being routed to exit.

I parked near Costa, initially thinking I’d sit there, but then a thought struck—why not Mysa, the place I covered a few weeks back?

The moment I entered, the owners—who were sitting there—greeted me so warmly, I was instantly on a high. I found my seat, told them about my meeting and pending emails, and ordered a cappuccino made by Barista Ali, who prepared it with genuine warmth. Loved every sip!

After my work, the couple engaged me in heartfelt chit-chat and, to my surprise, served me their lasagna—soon to be on the menu—saying, “We’d love for you to try it.” It was fantastic!

Being part of Lahore Coffees, I’m used to tastings, reviews, and coffee experiences—but the kind of hospitality, smiles, and respect I receive at Mysa is simply unmatched. This was my third visit, and each time they make you feel more than welcome.

Mysa is not just a café—it’s a soulful experience where the DNA of its owners is pure hospitality. Unforgettable, every time.

☕ Brewed by Chance: When Coffee Legends Collide at DOT

What a moment! As Suli (Third Culture Coffee) was heading out after a meeting upstairs at Tiercel Consulting’s office with CEO Mahmood ur Rehman — who was walking him downstairs to his car — I happened to be walking into DOT… and boom! The universe brewed this encounter.

Managed to snap this quick (and slightly blurry 😅) shot of two coffee legends:
Suli — always bringing that extraordinary vibe,
and Sannan — the bold mind behind DOT who’s carved out his own space in Lahore’s coffee scene.

One’s a pioneer, the other’s a rising storm. Both have built something unique. And I was lucky enough to witness this crossover moment.

Ufff — that slight touch that bends the perfect froth, distorts the coffee art just a little, and leaves behind a mark like something magical just happened in this wide, round cup.

You sit there — gazing. It’s dramatic. It’s cinematic. Time slows. You’re the main character in a film titled:

You look around…

☕️ Lahore Coffees Meets The Cracking Kernel Co‑Founders: A Tastefully Crafted Family Vision

Above Ferozsons Bookstore in DHA Phase 5, I stepped into The Cracking Kernel — a beautifully designed, thoughtfully curated café that instantly feels like home.

Welcomed by co-founders Ali Ahmed Aamir Mirza and Muhammad Bin Aamir Mirza, I found a family-run space where comfort food, creativity, and care come together seamlessly. But this isn’t your typical café. As you climb the stairs, handwritten captions greet you — quiet company before the first sip. Inside, every corner tells a story: artwork by local artists, soft curtains, cane chairs, and warmth in every detail.

I sat at the tail-end of the building, where the architecture forms a triangle — a peaceful nook that reminded me of Islamabad Club or Karachi Gymkhana lounges.

Behind the scenes? Their parents — Mr. Aamir Mirza (AgriTech expert) and Mrs. Uzma Aamir (fine arts graduate) — shaping everything from menu to mood. The brothers bring global polish from Warwick and University of London, blending finesse with soul.

🌿 Meet the Swallow — A Logo with a Journey
A swallow sits on a loaf of bread, a coffee cherry branch in its beak — a timeless symbol of migration, return, and belonging. This café, like the bird, offers a place you keep coming back to.

Even the C and K in the logo reflect comfort & curiosity, kitchen & kindness. Their signature dishes carry the bird. The cutlery? Laser-engraved.

Launched in July 2024, just a year in, and already a soulful staple in Lahore’s café culture.

What a great meeting with the brilliant brothers behind The Cracking Kernel — a passionate duo, both graduates from international universities, who are crafting not just exceptional coffee, savoury delights, and desserts, but also nurturing a deep-rooted branding journey. With vision, heart, and hands-on involvement, they’ve built a space that reflects creative precision, operational strength, and family values.

Powered by their parents’ partnership, this space is evolving with every menu detail and branding touch — making it a true community-driven café. Already a favourite for brunch and breakfast, this Phase V gem is setting the tone for what a soulful coffee spot should be.

And then there were the walls — adorned with real paintings cleverly woven with logo elements, some capturing the interior and others the serene view outside. For a moment, it felt like I had become a part of this evolving masterpiece — as if my presence might end up on their next wall.

It doesn’t feel like your typical café, deli, or coffee shop. With its premium vibe and a thoughtfully curated menu, it feels more like a mini Gymkhana-style food area — refined, rooted, and ready to leave a mark.

Safir Hasan, a LUMS graduate, entrepreneur, and powerhouse behind Voglia Flavorings, has officially arrived in Lahore — and not quietly. From coffee syrups and frappé mixes to Pakistan’s largest roasting and green bean import setup, Voglia is fast becoming a name that local cafés recognize and rely on. With roots in Karachi but a growing stake in Lahore’s café culture, he’s not just another café founder — he’s supplying the backbone of the industry.

Known for his bold vision and bigger voice, Safir built The Bunker café as a student hub and now scales Voglia as a serious local challenger to global brands like Monin. He’s super energetic, extraordinarily ambitious, and doesn’t hesitate to invest, explore, and expand. Always on the go — sometimes training entrepreneurs, sometimes tracking new cafés — even with a team in place, his passion keeps him rooted in the heart of the HORECA industry. Meeting him is like plugging into a power source. (Honestly, I thought I was the only one wired like this — but he seems like he’s running at 10x, lol.)

👌𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴

I walked into Pink Pistachio unannounced — a spontaneous visit that’s becoming part of the Lahore Coffees DNA — and was immediately hit with a premium vibe. Despite minor ongoing construction nearby (around 80% of the work looks done), the café already feels like a well-thought-out, high-potential space.

The new location sits between Mocca and Baskin Robbins at Mall 94, Gulberg — and it’s stunning. The interiors reflect an artistic soul, which is no surprise as the creative direction is led by Yasmin Hassan (InshaAllah, we’ll cover her story soon). Her vision clearly shows — especially in the pastry and interior details.

Leading the culinary and operational front is Basharat Hussain, a Hunza-born, SCAFA-trained chef with over 15 years of experience in the HORECA industry — particularly known for his finesse in pastries. After spending 5 years launching and running cafés in Islamabad, he moved to Lahore and has been with Pink Pistachio since 2021. Calm, focused, and full of positive energy, Basharat is also a fitness expert and a great communicator. During our impromptu meet, he proudly introduced me to their bar area, dessert chillers, and the sourdough bakery section — all well curated.

Pink Pistachio brings a standout range of sourdough, savory, and desserts, with a baking section that’s been a hit since 2019. Their coffee is currently sourced locally, and their hot kitchen is prepped to serve an extraordinary breakfast menu that has already been tried and tested at their first café at Raya, Phase 6 (originally started in Phase 5, then shifted).

Lahore’s café future is all breakfast and hot kitchens — this is becoming a strong assumption. Let’s see.
