Auditor General of Pakistan Orders Special Audit of Galiyat Development Authority
Financial irregularities, administrative crisis, alleged corruption, judicial interventions, and procurement rule violations prompt special audit

ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / International Press Agency – August 3, 2026): The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has directed the initiation of a Special Audit of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), Abbottabad. The move comes at a time when the authority is facing allegations of financial irregularities, administrative mismanagement, alleged corruption, judicial interventions, and violations of public procurement rules.
According to the Auditor General of Pakistan's Annual Audit Plan 2025–26, the Special Audit of the Galiyat Development Authority has been included under Serial No. 5698.
Sources said the objective of the special audit is to examine financial irregularities involving billions of rupees, the failure to recover hundreds of millions of rupees in outstanding dues, weak oversight of commercial properties, and alleged irregularities in lease agreements, including unauthorized extensions. The audit will also review other administrative, financial, and governance issues related to the authority.
The special audit is expected to determine whether public funds were managed in accordance with applicable financial rules and procurement regulations, identify those responsible for any violations, and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
