The Azadari Project presents our first ever event
The History of Azadari in Lahore.

Date: 30th June 2024

Venue: Azakhana Gulistan e Zahra Abbot Road Lahore.

Join us for a conversation with Faizan Naqvi to learn about and talk about the origins of Azadari in the city. ‘Azadari’ is the collective movement of commemoration and mourning of Imam Hussain (a).
In the talk we explore the history of various traditions and the diverse communities that conduct majaalis and juloos in Lahore.
Faizan Naqvi is also known as ‘Lahore ka Khoji’ and is a historian with extensive work on documenting the lesser known parts of the city’s history. He is the author of books that include ‘Tehzeeb-e-Aza’, ‘Tareekh-e-Taaziya’ and his latest book; Lahore main Azadari aur Muharram’. He is also the founder of The Lahore Shanasai Foundation.

This event, like all our events, is FREE to attend. It is open and inclusive for everyone.
