London, April 18 : Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif met Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London.

The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral relations and reiterated commitment to further strengthening these ties by enhancing trade, promoting investment and creating greater opportunities for educational and cultural cooperation.

Islamabad, April 17 :Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says democracy is ideology of people's rule and only the public gives its representatives right to govern through the power of vote.

He was speaking at a seminar titled 'Upholding the sanctity of vote' in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Nawaz Sharif said the political chaos will have to end for sustainability of democracy. He said the struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was based on democratic principles.

Earlier, addressing the seminar Senator Mushahid Hussain said nuclear tests and starting of China Pakistan Economic Corridor are big achievements of Nawaz Sharif.

Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo said we must adopt a realistic approach as all issues can be resolved through unity and harmony.

Tunis, April 03 : A five day annual meeting of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) begins in Tunis today (Sunday), to review last year's performance of the bank.

The meeting will also discuss and approve development agenda of the bank for the next year.

Representatives of fifty seven member states, including senior government officials and ministers for finance, economy, planning and international development will attend the meeting.

Several events have been organized on the sidelines of the conference. These events deal with a wide range of issues, such as women empowerment, youth, preventing blindness, sustainable development, efficient water usage, global partnerships and Islamic bonds.

Lahore, April 03 : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif says the provincial government will procure four million tonnes of wheat from the farmers.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore today (Tuesday), he said that the provincial government is set to procure wheat from farmers at a cost of one thousand and three hundred rupees per mound.

He directed the officials to make a mechanism for providing gunny bags to farmers at their door step. He said process of providing gunny bags will start from the mid of this month.

Karachi, April 03 : The Pakistan Stock Exchange was bullish on Tuesday.

The KSE-100 Index closed today (Tuesday) at 46013.34 points as compared to 45741.43 points on the last working day with a positive change of 271.91 points.

The total turnover was 282,642,610 as compared to 262,520,110 on the last working day with Lotte Chemical having the highest turnover of 28,394,000.

Total 382 companies’ transacted shares in the Stock Market today (Tuesday), out of which 173 recorded gains and 189 sustained losses whereas the share price of 20 companies remained unchanged.

Bata (Pak) recorded the maximum increase in its share price, which was 103.00 rupees while Colgate Palmolive recorded maximum decrease that was 157.45 rupees.

Islamabad, March 28 : Ministry of Commerce has held another round of consultations with with representatives of small, medium and large industries before finalizing its offer lists regarding China Pakistan Free Trade Agreement Phase II.

Such consultations have been held regularly before each round of bilateral negotiations on CPFTA.

While generally agreeing with the offer framed by the Ministry of Commerce based on past consultations, the Associations gave some additional recommendations for their respective sectors, which were accommodated.

The industry appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Commerce in trying to address their concerns in the Phase-II of CPFTA and making the entire process highly transparent.

Davos, Jan 26 :Global business leaders met with the Prime Minister on the margins of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and have shown keen interest in investing in various sectors of Pakistan's economy.

A delegation of Saudi Arabia comprising Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qasab, Minister of Energy, Khalid Al-Falih and Minister of State, Ibrahim Al-Assaf called on the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Davos.

They discussed a number of development projects of Saudi investment in Pakistan.

The two sides agreed to pursue the projects discussed with the Saudi Government on a fast track and that a senior Pakistani delegation will travel to Saudi Arabia in the next few weeks.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his good wishes on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.

Islamabad, Nov 16 : Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says all the four provinces, the federal government, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and FATA are on the same page regarding timely completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
He was talking to media in Islamabad, after a meeting to review preparations for upcoming meeting of 7th Joint Coordination Committee on CPEC.
The Minister said the CPEC belongs to entire Pakistan and all of its units are satisfied with current progress of the mega project and their share in CPEC projects.
He said the 7th Joint Coordination Committee on CPEC is scheduled to meet on Monday in which chief ministers of all provinces, representatives of private sector, and representatives from China would participate.
