Mental health content has been feeding you checklists for years — clinical, generic, low-key anxiety-inducing. But nobody’s telling you which signs actually deserve your attention. Not “textbook symptoms.” Real, lived patterns.
The sleep that doesn’t restore you, no matter how long you’re in bed. The mood swings so intense, people around you have started walking on eggshells. The exhaustion your blood tests can’t explain — because it’s not low energy, it’s anhedonia. The escaping — alcohol, pills, anything to avoid feeling — instead of actually addressing what’s wrong. The memory slips that go beyond “being busy,” until you’re the one who left the stove on.
None of these alone mean something’s wrong. But when they take over your day, for days on end, and start wrecking your personal, social, academic, or financial life — that’s your sign.
