A Lahore-based street artist, widely recognized as the "Golden Man," has been arrested on allegations of solicitation. However, he denies the claims, asserting that he performs as a human statue without directly asking for money. Instead, he explains that spectators voluntarily tip him for his act.

Identified as Muhammad, the artist covers himself in gold paint and remains motionless in Gulberg, showcasing a globally recognized form of performance art. He insists that his work is not begging but an artistic expression. Despite this, authorities detained him, citing public obstruction as the reason.

Expressing his frustration, Muhammad criticized officials for failing to distinguish between art and solicitation. His arrest, reportedly carried out on higher directives, has sparked conversations about the rights and recognition of street performers.

Pakistan’s exports saw an 8.17% rise, reaching $22.02 billion in the first eight months of FY25 (July-February), up from $20.36 billion in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). However, the trade deficit widened by 6.33% to $15.78 billion due to increased imports.

Imports surged by 7.4%, totaling $37.8 billion from July to February FY25, compared to $35.19 billion in the previous fiscal year. On a yearly basis, February 2025 recorded a sharp 33.43% increase in the trade deficit, reaching $2.299 billion, as imports grew by 10.03% while exports declined by 5.57%.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a real-time tracking system for 15 helpline complaints, enhancing transparency and efficiency in complaint resolution. Citizens can now monitor their cases through a dedicated tracking portal.

The system covers complaints registered under the Virtual Women Police Station, Child Safety Center, and Minorities Center. Each applicant receives a unique username and password to track updates. Those dissatisfied with the response can provide feedback or escalate their concerns.

Authorities encourage the public to utilize the tracking portal for faster assistance. This initiative is expected to strengthen public trust and modernize Punjab’s complaint resolution system.

Heavy rain and snowfall have severely impacted daily life in Neelum Valley and various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), triggering landslides and blocking key routes, including the Neelum Highway.

Areas such as Athmaqam, Keran, Upper Neelum, Sharda, and Kel have been battered by relentless rainfall, while Upper Gurez, Halmat, Taobat, Shounter, and Arang Kel are covered in heavy snow. The extreme weather has caused power outages since 10 PM, plunging communities into darkness and disrupting communication networks, making everyday activities increasingly difficult.

Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions, with repair efforts set to begin once conditions improve. Meanwhile, continuous rainfall for the third straight day in Muzaffarabad and nearby valleys has raised concerns over rising water levels in rivers and canals, heightening the risk of flooding.

Despite the challenges, the resilient local population continues to endure, while authorities work tirelessly to restore normalcy.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has unveiled Ocelot, its first quantum computing chip, marking a step toward scalable quantum machines. With nine qubits—including five "cat qubits" for storage and four transmons for monitoring—Ocelot aims to simplify quantum error correction, a major hurdle in the field.

Unlike Google and IBM, which rely solely on transmons, AWS’s hybrid approach reduces hardware requirements for error correction. Their design uses 10 times fewer qubits per encoded bit than Google's, potentially making large-scale quantum computing more feasible. The research, published in Nature, highlights Ocelot as a proof-of-principle for future advancements.
