Behroopia - A New Faysal Quraishi Psychological Thriller? 😮

Dissociative identity disorder (DID), more commonly know as multiple personality disorder, is one of those mental illnesses that have been used a lot in the horror/thriller genre because of obvious reasons. E.g. Split, Shutter Island, Hide and Seek etc. (Mostly Hollywood)

So when I saw the teasers of this show, I was cautiously optimistic BUT now after having watched the first 2 episodes... not so much...
My gripe with this kind of genres being shown on Pakistani TV is the treatment, you have a good premise, good actors, good ‘sets’ but WHY use the same old “larki ki shaadi”, “plotting phupho” tropes?

Let’s fully immerse in the thriller genre! Introduce COMPLEX characters. Not just one main guy as the interesting, complicated one because it falls apart when the surrounding characters are ordinary and soapy.
Stick to one genre, try to leave the soapiness out! Please!

However, I will still watch it to see where it goes because I do see potential in this project (at least this is something different than the countless dramas that are on right now, which are described as “ghar-ghar-ki-kahani”) although someone PLEASE make the phupho character go away!

Qarz e Jaan - THE END
Qarz e Jaan ends... leaving us with several thought-provoking, contradictory Questions:

-Is it really one’s Mental Health or is it one’s Mind-Set?
-What happens when the one being Controlled loses Self-Control?
-How “protecting” one from the outside world leads to Self-Destruction? How can then one be protected from oneself?
-What happens one is shown since birth that the consequences of one’s actions can be evaded by lies and deception?

The battle of egos and ownership, the desire to prove one’s worth against constant degradation, this was a story of a father and a son. Ultimately, the debt of a father was repaid by the life of his son, “Jaan kaa Qarz”.

Nameer Khan and Deepak Parwani gave stellar performances that showed us so many emotions: regret, betrayal, acceptance, self-loathing...

It remained a must-watch from the beginning to the end!

Parwarish - Short Review

The show in which the mundane in life is being painted so beautifully on screen!

This drama is such a refreshing watch not just because it is showcasing relevant themes but it gives us 3 generations, and shows how they differ in their mannerisms, lingos and school of thoughts with subtle brushstrokes so that nothing is ‘over-the-top’ but rather very realistic!

The 2 scenes that stood out to me the most were from the most recent episode. The bonding scenes between the cousins. It took me back to my childhood days, the joy of having cousins around!
-The “boys will be boys” but in the GOOD way, where Wali and Sameer forget their grudges and become “bros”. A beautiful message of moving on in life not holding pettiness in heart.
-The second was Amal’s freak-out and Wali calming her down. Sometimes however much we are close to our parents, some things only our age-mates can understand as it is about the shared struggle and experience of the same gen!

Looking forward to this show! A new Fav... LOVED the “KHEER FIASCO”!

The SHOCKING TWIST in Qarz e Jaan!

What goes around comes around! (x100 WORSE)
The PAIN that was inflicted on Bisma by Maa ji and Bakhtiar, now they witness their own daughter, Beenish suffering from it!

The separation from her 2 months old child, seeing her murdered husband, her brother being the murderer and on top of everything she LOVED her husband and LIKED her in-laws, was living a HAPPY life. The things Bisma didn’t have.
This makes Beenish’s suffering x100 more painful.
-Will the zaalim realize?
-Or will their azmaish continue as their eyes and hearts remain blinded to their own actions?
-Where will the author take us?

I think them turning a new leaf, suddenly becoming remorseful will not be very believable BUT them realizing internally and living with it will indeed be a severe punishment!
We shall have to wait and see how the remaining of Qarz e jaan unfolds!

Short Review:
Here we are! Bye-Bye Meem Se Mohabbat!

Talha and Roshi finally have the Happy Ending we were all eagerly waiting for. This drama from the outset was a happy-go-lucky, a romantic comedy, a light-hearted affair. We knew how it would end by the middle of the series. This is not a BAD thing, it is just how it is for any movie/ show of this genre. But what all of us were looking forward to was 'HOW?'. How will they be united? It all came down to the ex*****on. And I think we can safely say it was a SUCCESS!

Many a times a successful drama such as this one gets extended and dragged on, leading to a badly finished product with hurried storylines and vague endings (e.g. Ishq Murshid).

BUT was a treat for the audience especially the gooey eyed, romantic girlies glued to their screens every week on Wednesdays and Thursdays to watch this show.

ONE WHOLE episode dedicated to just romance, the much-needed conversations, much-needed answers and more ROMANCE. Usually, in our dramas, the conflicts do not end until the last scene of the last episode but here we got 33 minutes of (almost) uninterrupted Talha-Roshi moments where they addressed everything from Talha's unexpressed grief to Roshi's insane plans for Shariq to their declarations of love for each.

A perfect full-circle last scene at the beach where the HEARTLESS rejection took place to now where the HEARTWARMING proposal happened.
