Would you encourage your child to study at a China-supported vocational training institute?

Pakistan continues to face a significant skills gap, with only a small percentage of the workforce holding formal vocational qualifications while millions of young people enter the job market each year. According to publicly available reports, Pakistan-China cooperation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is helping expand opportunities in fields such as new energy vehicles, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing.

Officials say the initiative aims to equip young Pakistanis with industry-relevant skills, improve employability, and support long-term economic growth under ongoing Pakistan-China cooperation. Joint certification standards and training programmes are also being developed to strengthen Pakistan's vocational education system.

Pakistan could become one of the countries most affected by extreme heat due to rising temperatures and limited access to affordable cooling, according to a new study by the Climate Impact Lab.

According to publicly available reports, researchers estimate that by 2050, more than 150,000 additional temperature-related deaths could occur annually in Pakistan if current trends continue. The study highlights challenges including the high cost of air conditioners, unreliable electricity supply, and unequal access to cooling.

Experts recommend expanding heat action plans, improving early warning systems, strengthening power infrastructure, developing public cooling spaces, and increasing urban greenery to help protect vulnerable communities from the growing risks of extreme heat.
