In Kohistan's remote Lady Valley, the remarkably preserved remains of Naseeruddin, missing since 1997, were found in a glacier on August 1, 2025, by shepherd Umar Khan. Identified via his ID card, Naseeruddin likely fell into a glacial crevasse with his horse while evading threats. His family, displaced by a feud, faced tragedy and legal issues. Rapid glacial melt due to record temperatures in July 2025 exposed the body. Naseeruddin’s brother, Kaseeruddin, now plans the burial. Experts note glaciers’ natural mummification preserves remains for decades.

ISLAMABAD: Property tycoon Malik Riaz has warned of a complete shutdown of Bahria Town operations across Pakistan due to a strict crackdown by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
He stated that dozens of staff arrests, frozen bank accounts, and seizure of vehicles have paralyzed the company’s nationwide operations.
“Our cash flow is destroyed, salaries are unpaid — we’re one step away from closure,” he said.
Riaz appealed for intervention, calling the situation "unmanageable."
Meanwhile, NAB has announced the auction of Bahria Town properties on August 7, 2025, in Islamabad.
Assets include offices, cinemas, marquees, and school buildings.
The Islamabad High Court had earlier halted such auctions but later gave NAB clearance.
This marks a major escalation in the accountability drive against one of Pakistan’s biggest real estate empires.

ISLAMABAD: A four-member team of Pakistani students earned four bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, marking Pakistan’s best-ever performance.

The team—Mohammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Mohammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik—secured the medals among participants from 86 countries, placing Pakistan 32nd, ahead of nations like Germany, France, and Italy.

Last year, Pakistan ranked 46th with two bronze medals. This improvement is credited to a merit-based selection process by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), which congratulated the students, their families, and coaches.

A total of 528 students from across the country participated in the national-level selection, which involved two rounds of testing, leading to the final four-member team.

The Ministry of Federal Education had tasked FBISE with organizing Pakistan’s participation in IOI annually.
