In the latest Human Development Index report, Pakistan placed 168 out of 193 countries. (The index measures life expectancy, income and education). Our ranking is much lower than all SAARC and regional countries (except Afghanistan). We have also fallen behind in the last 6 years. The 10 countries ahead of us are: Uganda, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea, Togo, Syria, Mauritania, Nigeria, Tanzania, Haiti and Lesotho. After Lesotho, which is categorised in Medium Human Development, starts the last of four categories, Low Human Development countries. Pakistan belongs to this last category.
