The story of Hira Iftikhar of King Edward
"I considered myself the happiest person in this world till I was 13. Then, the reality of life unfolded. When I was in 8th grade my elder sister died of liver damage at 17 due to wrong medication. Next year, my elder brother, a rubella child died at the age of 23. It took us a year to get back to something you call “a normal life”, though it wasn't easy. In June 2008, I lost my father to heart failure. That was when I felt I had lost everything in my life. Those 3 years were the darkest years of my life.
After my father’s death, I came to know about the reality of people. How they ran from responsibilities and how they'd started talking about us. My mother had lost her son, daughter and her life partner, but she never knelt down before the circumstances and dedicated her whole life for us. All I am today is because of her. I got into Kinnaird College and was ranked the topper of Punjab Board in F.Sc exams. By the end of this period, I was renowned enough to be known as, “topper-Hira Iftikhar”. I topped NUST entrance exam and also got selected in AKU but my mother wanted me to stay here. I couldn't find a single reason to go against her.
Alhamdulillah, I have never repented the decision of staying here. I have secured distinctions, here too. All these achievements are actually the fruit of the hard-work which my mother has invested in me. Nothing can make me more happier than to see her happy and proud of me. And I am sure, my father (may Allah grant him high place in heaven) would have been proud too, if he were alive.
All that I have learnt in my life is that, hard-work paves the way for success and no being on Earth has the power to undermine your efforts, except “you” yourself. People won't cry when you cry, they won't be happy when you are happy. So why allow others to govern your life? I am sharing my story so that whenever life knocks you down, stand up and tell her that no obstacle can stop you from achieving your goals. As long as you are making your parents proud and inspiring others, you don't have to worry at all.The rest should be left to Allah Almighty. Undoubtedly, He is the best planner."
