Pakistan Beat Thailand in Volleyball | Khawaja Asif Criticizes Fazlur Rehman
Pakistan secure their third straight win in the Asian U18 Volleyball Championship as Khawaja Asif strongly criticizes Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Pakistan have registered their third consecutive victory in the Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship with a dominant 3-0 win over Thailand. In their final group match, Pakistan delivered an impressive performance and won the sets by 25-19, 25-19 and 25-23. With this victory, Pakistan finished on top of Group C after winning all three matches. The Green Shirts had already qualified for the quarter-finals, while earlier wins against Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan showed the team’s strong form in the tournament.

In another major political update, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly criticized JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his recent remarks about soldiers’ sacrifices. Khawaja Asif said linking the sacrifices of military personnel to salary is unfair and deeply hurtful for the families of martyrs. He said no one sacrifices their life merely for salary, as such sacrifices are based on faith, duty, ideology and love for the homeland. The defence minister added that soldiers, law enforcement personnel and citizens continue to sacrifice their lives in the fight against terrorism, and reducing those sacrifices to pay is not political criticism but moral insensitivity.

Saudi Arabia intercepts Houthi ballistic missiles as US President Donald Trump reportedly announces new strikes on Iran and Strait of Hormuz restrictions.

Saudi Arabia has reportedly destroyed ballistic missiles fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels before they could reach their targets. According to the Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki, the missiles were launched toward southern Saudi Arabia but were intercepted in the air by the kingdom’s air defense system. The development came after the Houthis blamed Riyadh for airstrikes on Sanaa Airport and warned of serious consequences. Saudi authorities said the defense systems remain alert to protect the country’s territory and civilians.

In another major Middle East update, US President Donald Trump has reportedly announced more intense airstrikes on Iran and new restrictions linked to the Strait of Hormuz. In an interview, Trump claimed that Iran failed to follow the memorandum of understanding and said US forces would target the mountainous area of Kuh-e-Kolang Gaz La in central Iran. He also claimed that US forces have damaged Iranian military capabilities and eliminated key levels of leadership. According to reports, the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed for Iranian vessels, while cargo ships from other countries may face a 20 percent fee.

Indian Expat Wins AED 30M Lottery | UAE Plans New Fujairah Port
An Indian expat wins AED 30 million in the UAE lottery as the Emirates plans a new Fujairah port to reduce Strait of Hormuz risks.

An Indian citizen from Kerala, Sunil Kumar, has reportedly won AED 30 million in the UAE lottery. Instead of choosing random numbers, he selected numbers linked to the birthdates of his seven-year-old daughter, himself and his wife. The draw was held on July 1, where his ticket turned into a life-changing win. Sunil Kumar said he wants to use the prize money to support his daughter’s dream of becoming a doctor, build a new home, take a break from work and help his struggling relatives.

In another major business update, the UAE has reportedly decided to build a new multipurpose port in Fujairah to reduce dependence on Dubai and avoid risks linked to the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, the project comes amid regional tensions affecting trade routes, with commercial activity at Jebel Ali Port reportedly dropping sharply. DP World is said to be in talks for a new terminal at Fujairah Port, which could be completed in around 18 months. The new route would allow ships to access the UAE without passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
