In broiler farming, diseases like E. coli infection (colibacillosis), Mycoplasma infection, and Infectious Bronchitis are major causes of poor performance and economic loss. E. coli mainly acts as a secondary infection, causing respiratory issues, air sacculitis, and mortality, especially when birds are already stressed or immunocompromised. Mycoplasma damages the respiratory tract, leading to coughing, nasal discharge, and reduced growth, while Infectious Bronchitis, a viral disease, spreads rapidly and causes severe respiratory signs, poor weight gain, and sometimes kidney damage. Proper management includes strict biosecurity, good ventilation, maintaining litter quality, and reducing stress. Vaccination programs (especially for Infectious Bronchitis), along with the controlled use of antibiotics for bacterial infections like E. coli and Mycoplasma (under veterinary guidance), are essential. Overall, prevention through hygiene, environmental control, and strong flock management is the key to minimizing these diseases in broilers.
