Hardest natural mineral (Mohs hardness 10)

Usually colorless but can occur in many colors

2. Ruby

Red variety of corundum

Color comes from chromium

Symbol of passion and courage

3. Sapphire

Usually blue, but available in many colors

Very durable (Mohs hardness 9)

Symbol of wisdom and loyalty

4. Emerald

Green variety of beryl

Color comes from chromium and vanadium

Semi-Precious Gemstones
