تجھ کو چاہیے تھا محبت کرنا
ہاں کبھی لوٹ نہ آنے کی شکایت کرنا
اس قدر چپ اتنی خاموشی
کہ اپنی ذلت پہ بھی نہ شکایت کرنا
میں نے دیکھا وہ میری ماں تھی
جس نے سیکھا بس عنایت کرنا
کیا تھی وہ کوئی مٹی کی مورت
یا پھر عظمت انساں کی خاص صورت
یا پھر اسی کو معلوم تھا عظمت انساں کیا ہے
اف نہ کرتی تھی نہ بتاتی تھی کوئی ضرورت
خود اس پہ اترتی تھی وحی جیسے
میری ہر بات بن کہے پہنچ جاتی تھی اسے
کوئی رہتا نہیں اب یہاں جو بن کہے سن لے مجھ کو
اک خواہش بچی رہ گئی کاش وہ لوٹ آئے
