Kanray (کنړۍ) – A Timeless Tradition of Pashtun Craftsmanship
In a world dominated by machines and mass production, some traditions continue to survive through the skilled hands of dedicated artisans. One such beautiful tradition is Kanray (کنړۍ), the traditional Pashtun art of hand-weaving carpets and rugs.
For centuries, Pashtun families have used simple wooden handlooms to weave carpets, floor rugs, prayer mats, and other woven textiles. Using natural wool, cotton, and colorful threads, every piece is carefully crafted by hand. Each knot and every pattern reflects patience, hard work, and the rich cultural heritage of the Pashtun people.
Kanray is more than just a craft—it is a symbol of our history, identity, and resilience. In many villages across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, this tradition has been passed down from one generation to the next, providing livelihoods for families while preserving an important part of our culture.
Unfortunately, this beautiful heritage is slowly disappearing due to industrial production and changing lifestyles. It is our collective responsibility to recognize, support, and preserve this remarkable art for future generations.

کنړۍ (Kanray) – د پښتنو د لاسي اوبدلو یو ارزښتمن دود
په داسې زمانه کې چې ماشيني تولید ورځ تر بلې زیاتېږي، لا هم زموږ ځینې دودیز هنرونه د هنرمندو لاسونو په برکت ژوندي پاتې دي. کنړۍ (Kanray) د پښتنو له هغو لرغونو او ارزښتناکو هنرونو څخه ده چې د نسلونو راهیسې ساتل شوې ده.
کنړۍ د لرګي په دودیز اوبدلو چوکاټ (دار) باندې د غالیو، قالینو، لمونځځایونو او نورو اوبدل شویو توکو د جوړولو هنر دی. هنرمندان د پسونو له وړۍ، پنبې او رنګینو تارونو څخه په ډېر صبر، مهارت او مینې سره داسې ښکلي نقشونه جوړوي چې هره ټوټه یې د پښتني کلتور، تاریخ او دودونو ژوندی انځور وي.
دا هنر یوازې د قالینو جوړول نه دي، بلکې د پښتنو د هویت، کلتوري شتمنۍ او د پخوانیو نسلونو د ژوندانه یوه مهمه نښه ده. په پښتونخوا او بلوچستان کې لا هم ډېرې کورنۍ د همدې هنر له لارې خپل ژوند پرمخ وړي او دا دود له یوې پېړۍ بلې ته لېږدوي.
له بده مرغه، د عصري صنعت او ماشيني تولید له امله دا لرغونی هنر ورو ورو د له منځه تلو له ګواښ سره مخ دی. زموږ ګډ مسؤلیت دی چې د خپلو هنرمندانو ملاتړ وکړو، د دوی لاسي تولیدات وپېرو او دا ارزښتمن کلتوري میراث راتلونکو نسلونو ته وساتو.
"لاس اوبدل شوی قالین یوازې یو فرش نه دی؛ بلکې د صبر، مهارت، دود او نسلونو د تجربې او زحمت یوه ژوندۍ کیسه ده."
