The Punjab Schools Education Department is replacing traditional board exams with a new assessment-based system.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the move aims to improve grades nine and ten performance while strengthening early-year learning.
Grade eight assessments will be conducted by PECTA, which will issue exam guidelines within 20 days.

The Sindh cabinet has approved a CNIC-based vehicle registration system with personalised registration marks (PRMs), allowing number plates to remain with the owner even after selling a vehicle. Under the new system, registration marks will be linked to the owner’s CNIC instead of the vehicle chassis, while the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will still be based on the chassis number. PRMs can be retained, reused, or surrendered, enhancing administrative convenience and asset tracking.
