On this episode of Vi-Voice, we got an opportunity with Dr. Rizwan Malik; Reproductive Endocrinologist & Infertility Specialist to talk about a topic that affects nearly one in three women in Pakistan, yet almost nobody talks about it openly: heavy uterine bleeding. We covered what actually counts as "heavy" (hint: if you're changing more than 5 pads a day or your cycle keeps showing up every two weeks, that's your body asking for attention), why it looks different at every stage of life from the teenage years right through to menopause, and what's really driving the numbers up in Pakistan, from diet and stress to women having children later.

Dr. Rizwan also walked us through the most common underlying causes, from hormonal imbalances to fibroids and polyps, and how early diagnosis changes everything. The biggest takeaway? Silence is the real complication. Women delay treatment because this still feels like a taboo subject, and that delay is what quietly costs them their energy, their time with family, and sometimes their health.

Ever wondered where the line is between a normal period and one that needs a doctor's attention? In this episode of Vi-Voice Dr. Rizwan; Reproductive Endocrinologist & Infertility Specialist breaks down heavy uterine bleeding, something that shows up at every stage of a woman's life, from the teenage years right through to her forties and fifties.

If your cycle is showing up more than twice a month, that's your body signaling something's off. Most women stay quiet about it, and that silence is exactly what delays diagnosis and quietly chips away at quality of life. And on the treatment side, procedures like NovaSure have been refined over millions of cases in the US and are now available right here in Pakistan. As Dr. Rizwan puts it, the body wears out and needs maintenance, just like anything else. There's nothing to be ashamed of in getting checked.

Happy 79th Independence Day from all of us at Vivoice. In this latest episode, we engaged in a candid conversation with CEO ViSole Group of Companies, Mr. Zafar Mahmood, to talk about where Pakistan stands after 79 years, and he did not hold back. He believes our youth are our biggest strength, already proving themselves abroad as scientists, entrepreneurs, and engineers, and the real question is why that talent cannot build its future here at home. He pointed to a lack of continuity in policy and institutions as the real gap behind brain drain, not a lack of ability.

He is optimistic too. He spoke about Pakistan's potential to export skilled healthcare talent to the world, and about a recent technology transfer deal with China that pushes the country from just buying to building and selling, from imports to Made in Pakistan. His message for the day was simple: stop asking what the country gave you, start asking what you gave it.

Pakistan loses close to 300,000 lives every year to antimicrobial resistance, making it the country's third leading cause of death, and we are the world's third largest consumer of antibiotics after China and India.

In our latest episode of Vi-Voice we engaged in a conversation with Dr Afreenish, a microbiologist, to talk about why this is happening and what it actually means for a regular household. She walked us through how bacteria, viruses and fungi turn resistant when we self medicate off a Google search, stop a course early the moment we feel better, or pick up antibiotics over the counter with no prescription in hand. She explained Candida auris, a fungal superbug that carries a mortality rate of 60 to 70 percent and can survive on hospital surfaces for weeks, and why many Pakistani labs still cannot run a proper fungal culture

Watch the full episode to hear what doctors, pharmacists and patients each need to change.

Did you know a fungal superbug called Candida Auris has a mortality rate of 60-70% once it infects a patient? Bacteria, viruses and fungi are evolving every day, and misusing antibiotics only makes them stronger.
Google is not a doctor. Self-medicating can turn a simple infection into a drug-resistant nightmare. We talked with an expert to break down fungal infections, how they spread and why Pakistan needs to take this seriously.

Full episode dropping soon. Trust us, you'll want to see this one.

Have you or someone you know ever taken antibiotics without a doctor's prescription? Yes or no, drop it in the comments.
