A childhood friend of mine recently completed his degree and got married.
Over the past few months, he’s been asking me again and again to teach him online skills like Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Lead Generatio,. so he can start earning money online.
But here’s the truth…

He doesn’t even know how to make a LinkedIn account yet, and I’m genuinely afraid he might struggle in freelancing.
We all know freelancing isn’t easy anymore, especially for beginners.
It requires investment, patience, consistency, and a lot of hard work before you start earning.

He needs quick income to support his new family, and I know freelancing doesn’t give instant results.
Now I’m stuck in tough situation. Should I teach him digital marketing, or should I be honest and tell him that freelancing might not be the right path for him right now?

Four years ago, I started exploring online earning websites.
People used to share links saying, “Make an account 50 yours, 50 mine.”
I never trusted them, but curiosity made me try.
One day, I met a boy who told me he was earning money online through his skills.

I asked, “Which skills?”
He said, “Learn something valuable try LinkedIn, Upwork, or Fiverr. Don’t waste time on fake sites.”

I didn’t take it seriously… until I lost 1500 rupees to one of those websites.
That small loss opened my eyes and changed my path.
I decided to focus on learning real skills.

I started with Lead Generation, Google Ads, and Meta Ads, and slowly built my freelancing career.

Today, I’m proud to work as a Google Ads, Meta Ads, Lead Generation, and Upwork Bidding Expert, helping businesses grow with real strategies.

A week ago, a friend messaged me saying he wanted to sell his Upwork account I was honestly surprised so I asked him why?

He said,
“There’s been no work for the past year. I’ve invested nearly 20,000 PKR, but I never got results. I’m disappointed and just want to sell it.”
Yesterday, he texted again and said someone offered 12,000 PKR for his account.

I told him, “That’s not a fair price. If you really want to sell it, at least ask for 16k–20k PKR so you can recover some of your investment.”
He agreed and is still looking for a buyer.

Honestly, that’s heartbreaking to see.
It made me realize how difficult the platform has become for beginners and small freelancers.

Upwork used to be a place where talent spoke louder than money — but now, it feels like the platform favors those who can spend more rather than those who truly have skill.

Upwork should really think about this.
If the cost of staying visible keeps increasing, it will discourage young and talented freelancers from even starting.

Last night, I received a direct offer on Upwork $9/hour, payment verified.At first glance, it looked like a dream opportunity.

But after checking the profile, I realized it wasn’t a real clien, just another fake one trying to waste time.

Here’s what I’ve learned
A fake client isn’t only someone without a verified payment method.
Sometimes, they look real verified payment, high offer, and direct invitation.
They skip the most important part discussing project requirements.
So, don’t get overconfident when you see a “great offer.”

Stay calm.
Always check the client’s history, feedback, and behavior before accepting any offer.

A genuine client will always communicate clearly and have a positive work record.

Be smart. Be sharp.

Freelancing is not just about skill,s it’s also about understanding who’s real and who’s fake.
