A wife is not a servant, and a daughter is not fatherless just because her mother chooses dignity over abuse. I don’t know if motherhood is an easy or difficult journey, but I do know it’s a life-changing process. Your life changes, your priorities change, your heart changes. What makes it harder sometimes is not the child, but the people around us — who expect us to feel the same, live the same, and experience things exactly as they did. Every mother’s journey is unique, and it should be respected.

میں نے کے ایف سی سے ایک ڈیل منگوائی تھی، اُس میں زنگر، فرائیڈ چکن اور فرائز تھے۔ میں نے سب کھا لیا مگر فرائز نہیں کھائے۔ پھر وہ میں نے فریج میں رکھ دیے کیونکہ دل نہیں چاہ رہا تھا پھینکنے کو۔ دو دن بعد جب کھائے تو ذائقہ اچھا نہیں لگا تو میں نے پھینک دیے۔ یعنی تازہ ہونے پر نہیں پھینکا بلکہ جب ذائقہ بدل گیا تو پھینک دیے۔

کچھ لوگ ہمیں ذہنی طور پر اتنا ڈسٹرب کرتے ہیں کہ ہم خود بدل جاتے ہیں، تاکہ وہ ہمیں آسانی سے بغیر کسی احساسِ جرم کے چھوڑ سکیں۔
