π¨ Broad Peak Search & Recovery Mission Update π΅π°ποΈ
The search and recovery operation on Broad Peak has reached another important milestone.
After an extremely challenging and technical recovery mission, the bodies of Nirmal Purja, Zhong Wang, Nima Sherpa, and Kilu Sherpa have been successfully recovered and safely brought back to Broad Peak Base Camp.
This achievement was made possible by the incredible dedication, courage, and teamwork of the joint Pakistani and Nepali recovery team, who carried out the operation under some of the harshest conditions in the Karakoram.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to every rescuer, the Pakistan Army, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, local authorities, and all organizations that supported this difficult mission.
Despite this progress, three climbers are still missing, and search and recovery efforts will continue whenever weather and mountain conditions permit.
May the recovered climbers rest in eternal peace, and may strength and patience be granted to their families and loved ones.
Note: This avalanche video from Broad Peak is almost a month old. It was recorded while we were on our way to Concordia.
