Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon talk about the wage gap issues faced by women in Bollywood in a recent interview. Varun told Kriti she is not the first one to take a stand on this issue, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Varun Dhawan said that he fully agrees with Kriti on the fact that women face huge wage issues in Bollywood where they are offered an unfair amount of money for their work.

Varun said, "100 percent. I fully agree with her that it does happen with women, when it comes to remuneration, there is suddenly a problem. That’s occurred. But I know a lot of my female co-stars, who are now much happier with the way remunerations are being given out in films.”

Varun Dhawan will be seen next in Bhediya in which Varun and Kriti will be working together.

Bhediya, a horror comedy, is produced by Dinesh Vijan and features Varun Dhawan in the role of a werewolf. The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and will release in theatres on November 25.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino expressed support for the LGBTQ community and migrant workers in his opening press conference of the Qatar World Cup on Saturday.

“Today I feel Qatari, today I feel Arab, today I feel African, today I feel gay, today I feel disabled, today I feel a migrant worker,” he said.
The build-up to the tournament in the Gulf state has been dominated by concerns over Qatar’s treatment of migrant workers, women and the LGBTQ community.

Qatar officials say their country has been the target of “racism” and “double standards”. They point to the reforms on working conditions and safety that have been hailed as groundbreaking in the Gulf region.

Infantino also hit back at criticism of Qatar’s human rights record, blasting the “hypocrisy” of Western critics.

“This moral lesson-giving -- one-sided -- is just hypocrisy,” said the Swiss.

“I don’t want to give you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly, profoundly unjust.”

He added: “For what we Europeans have been doing for the last 3,000 years we should apologise for the next 3,000 years before starting giving moral lessons to people.”

UN calls for additional funding to meet urgent needs of flood affected people in Pakistan

The United Nations has called for additional funding to meet the urgent needs of flood affected people in Pakistan.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Aziz Haq told reporters during his regular briefing in New York that the UN's 816 million dollars humanitarian appeal has been funded only 21 percent.

Giving an update on flood situation in Pakistan, he said more than three months since the devastating floods began, the catastrophe is far from over.

The spokesperson said the United Nations is calling for additional funding to maintain the lifesaving response.

He said access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene in the flood hit areas remain challenging, with the flooding and standing water having led to a rise in water and vector-borne diseases.

The UN Spokesperson said millions of people face increased food insecurity as families are returning to their destroyed houses, with ruined crops, and dead livestock.
