🚨 Update on English Language Requirements for Visas 🌐
The Department of Home Affairs has introduced new English language standards impacting various visa categories effective from 7 August 2025. These changes affect:
✅ Skilled Migration Visas
✅ Temporary Graduate (485) Visa
✅ Other related visa applications
If you have completed your language test before today, the previous criteria still hold. However, for tests taken on or after 7 August 2025, the updated standards will apply.
Key Points to Note:
- Newly recognized tests for migration purposes: LanguageCert and MET
- PTE requirements for Superior English (equivalent to IELTS 8.0): 69 Listening, 70 Reading, 85 Writing, and 88 Speaking
- For Proficient English (equivalent to IELTS 7.0): PTE scores of 58 Listening, 59 Reading, 69 Writing, and 76 Speaking
- Lower PTE scores now accepted for Competent, Vocational, and Functional English levels
- Reduced PTE score requirements for the 485 visa category
