The Taliban authorities have ordered a nationwide shutdown of the country’s fiber optic internet until further notice.

This decision has cut off millions of Afghans from stable internet access, affecting communication, education, businesses, and humanitarian work.

International organizations, including the UN, have already raised concerns, warning that the blackout will worsen the economic and humanitarian crisis.

Earlier, the Taliban had already restricted internet in several provinces, citing “morality” concerns. Now, the shutdown has expanded nationwide.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have launched a crackdown against those broadcasting unethical content on social media. In Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar many TikTokers have been booked on charges of using indecent language, abusive behavior, and broadcasting content against social values.

Police authorities said the next generation is misusing social media for bad things more and more, which will not be allowed. They promised that hard legal action will be taken against all persons engaging in indecent language and immoral behavior on the net.
