In just a period of one year, thousands of merchants from Pakistan have registered on Amazon, as a result of which our country has retained its third position in the category of new sellers on the biggest e-commerce platform.

Officials of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) gave a briefing to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce. During the briefing, the TDAP expressed confidence about the country’s export products, the country’s capacity and the capabilities of the people associated with the e-commerce platform.

He expressed hope that the entrepreneurs who sell goods on Amazon will be able to continue the journey of improvement in the future by benefiting from this journey of rapid development.

In a briefing to the members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly headed by Chairman Raza Rabbani, the TDAP said that, Pakistan will be the third largest country in the sale of products through the Amazon market in the United States at the end of this year.

The thousands of Pakistani sellers are trying to give competition to the sellers worldwide. While USA and China top the list, we still have export hubs like India and Canada, which is a remarkable accomplishment.

Pakistan was allowed to sell products on Amazon in May 2021 after almost a year of negotiations between the Ministry of Commerce and Amazon officials and thousands of merchants from Pakistan were registered with Amazon in just a short period of one year.

TikTok, one of the most famous and used social media applications, made shocking revelations of removing a whopping amount of videos violating its guidelines during a recent report.

The app's officials reported that more than 113 million videos have been taken down between the pride of April and June of this year in accordance with the company’s quarterly transparency report 2022. Although the number is 113 million, it represents just 1 percent of total videos uploaded during the three-month period.

The report stated that the common reason for removal was the violation of TikTok's policies around minor safety. Other reasons included illegal activities, regulated goods, adult nudity and sexual activities. The company said it utilizied the automated tools, and human review to sift through content causing violations.

According to multiple media outlets, about 15,351,388 videos were taken down from Pakistan with a proactive removal rate of 98.7 percent, 97.4 percent for removals before 24 hours, and 97.3 percent for takedowns before any views.

For the record, Pakistan ranks second for the largest volume of videos taken down by TikTok. The United States of America topped the list with nearly 18 million videos removed.

For the unversed, TikTok has more than one billion global users, although digital rights experts believe that more transparency is crucial in a market like Pakistan where the app faced four bans between October 2020 and November 2021.

The Taliban have signed a provisional deal with Russia to supply gasoline, diesel, gas and wheat to Afghanistan, Acting Afghan Commerce and Industry Minister Haji Nooruddin Azizi told Reuters.

Azizi said his ministry was working to diversify its trading partners and that Russia had offered the Taliban administration a discount to average global commodity prices.

The move, the first known major international economic deal struck by the Taliban since they returned to power more than a year ago, could help to ease the Islamist movement’s isolation that has effectively cut it off from the global banking system.

Western diplomats have said the group needs to change its course on human rights, particularly those of women, and prove it has cut ties with international militant groups in order to gain formal recognition.

Russia does not officially recognize the Taliban’s government, but Moscow hosted leaders of the movement in the run-up to the fall of Kabul and its embassy is one of only a handful to remain open in the Afghan capital.
