🔥 Rizwan & Salman steal the show late on Day One! 🏏🇵🇰

Pakistan finished strong at 313-5 against South Africa in the 1st Test at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 114-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan (62)* and Salman Ali Agha (52)* after a mid-innings collapse.

Earlier, Imam-ul-Haq (93) and Shan Masood (76) laid a solid platform with a 161-run partnership, but three quick wickets had the hosts reeling at 199-5 before the lower order rescued the innings.

The Proteas struck hard in the second session but couldn't maintain pressure late in the day. Momentum now with 🇵🇰 as we head into Day Two! 💪

Muthusamy turns the tide after Imam-Shan onslaught in Lahore

LAHORE: Just as Pakistan looked poised to dominate Day 1 of the opening Test against South Africa, left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy delivered a decisive double blow to haul his side back into contention by tea on Sunday at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan ended the second session at 199 for 4 in 57 overs, with hopes of a commanding first-innings total tempered by two quick wickets, those of Imam-ul-Haq, heartbreakingly dismissed for 93, and Saud Shakeel, who fell for a golden duck.

The day had begun with drama right from the start, as Abdullah Shafique was trapped leg-before by a fiery Kagiso Rabada on just the third ball of the innings. The early loss might have unsettled a lesser side, but Pakistan responded with poise, thanks to the experienced shoulders of Shan Masood and the returning Imam-ul-Haq.

The left-handed pair stitched together a 161-run stand for the second wicket, silencing the Proteas attack with a mix of grit, flair, and controlled aggression. Shan, in particular, looked fluent as he raced to his 12th Test half-century, peppering the off-side with trademark drives and wristy flicks. He eventually fell to Prenelan Subrayen for a well-crafted 76 off 147 balls, laced with nine boundaries and a six.

Imam, making a comeback to the Test side after nearly a year, showcased the calm maturity of a seasoned campaigner. Rotating strike smartly and capitalizing on every scoring opportunity, the 28-year-old registered his 10th Test fifty and seemed destined for three figures. But just as he entered the nervous nineties, Muthusamy trapped him lbw for 93, ending what could have been a career-defining innings. The very next ball saw Saud Shakeel fall in identical fashion, giving Muthusamy a chance at a hat-trick and suddenly turning the tide in South Africa’s favor.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam, who walked in after Shan's dismissal, looked sublime as ever. The Pakistan captain struck boundaries with his signature elegance and, in the process, etched his name into the record books by becoming the first Pakistani to cross 3,000 runs in the ICC World Test Championship, joining an elite list of just eight batters worldwide to reach the milestone.

At tea, Babar remained unbeaten and composed, eyeing a big score as Pakistan now look to rebuild and finish Day 1 with a position of strength. With reverse swing likely to play a role and spin already making inroads, the final session could well dictate the course of this Test match.

SCORES IN BRIEF

TEA: PAKISTAN 1ST INNINGS 199-4 in 57 overs (Imam-ul-Haq 93, Shan Masood 76; Senuran Muthusamy 2-16, Prenelan Subrayen 1-40, Kagiso Rabada 1-45) vs SOUTH AFRICA.

Imam, Shan rebuild as Pakistan reach 107/1 at lunch in Lahore Test

LAHORE: Pakistan made a measured recovery after an early blow on the opening morning of the first Test against South Africa, reaching 107 for 1 at lunch on Day 1 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan were rocked in just the third delivery of the match when opener Abdullah Shafique was trapped lbw by Kagiso Rabada for 2, leaving the hosts at a shaky 2 for 1. But what followed was a calm and composed revival led by opener Imam-ul-Haq and newly-appointed captain Shan Masood, who together put on an unbroken 105-run stand to wrest back the initiative from the visitors.

Imam, who has often delivered under pressure at home, looked in fluent touch from the outset. He displayed excellent footwork against the spinners and patience against the pace of Rabada and Mulder. The left-hander brought up his half-century off 77 balls, eventually going to lunch unbeaten on 59 off 89 deliveries, laced with five boundaries.

At the other end, Shan Masood, leading Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship, played a solid hand. He was content rotating the strike early on but gradually began to open up with crisp drives and a beautiful straight six off spinner Prenelan Subrayen. He went into the break unbeaten on 44 off 78 balls, with four fours and one six, suggesting signs of a big score in the making.

The South African bowling, after the initial success, looked largely toothless on a dry and slow Lahore pitch. Rabada, the only bowler to find success, bowled a sharp initial spell but lacked consistent support. Spinners Simon Harmer, Prenelan Subrayen, and Senuran Muthusamy found some grip but failed to pose any significant threat to the well-set Pakistan batters.

South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram rotated his bowlers regularly but is yet to find a breakthrough after that early strike. The hosts, on the other hand, will be pleased with the stability shown by their top order after early nerves.

This two-match series marks the beginning of Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27, while South Africa enter as the defending champions of the previous cycle. The match also marks the first time Pakistan are opening a WTC cycle at home, a rare occurrence in recent years for the Test side.

LUNCH SCORECARD – DAY 1, 1ST TEST: PAKISTAN VS SOUTH AFRICA PAKISTAN: 1ST INNINGS: 107/1 in 28 overs (Imam-ul-Haq: 59*, Shan Masood 44*; Kagiso Rabada 1-27) vs SOUTH AFRICA.

🏋️‍♂️🇵🇰 The Hulk of Pakistan is back — Nooh Butt set for Golden Comeback!

After a three-year hiatus from international weightlifting, Pakistan’s Commonwealth Games gold medalist Nooh Dastagir Butt is roaring back to the global stage — and he's aiming for nothing less than gold at the VIRUS Weightlifting Finals & UMWF World Championships 2025, set to take place from December 3–6 in Daytona Beach, Florida. 🌍🏆

Famously known as the “Hulk of Pakistan”, Nooh is returning stronger, sharper, and more focused, fueled by a burning mission: to lift Pakistan’s flag high once again on the world stage.

🇵🇰 “I’ve only got one mission now — to win international gold for Pakistan,” says Nooh, training under the relentless eye of his father, former champion Ghulam Dastagir, in Gujranwala with two intense sessions daily.

After years of internal federation disputes, resolved through the efforts of Madam Nuzhat and Hafiz Jibran Butt (Pakistan Weightlifting Federation), and backed by Activit and National Hospital DHA Lahore, Nooh is fully cleared and supported to represent Pakistan again — with his training, nutrition, and family’s medical care fully sponsored.

His family’s pride is unmatched. 🏡💚
“Nooh’s father won’t sleep until both his sessions are complete,” says his mother. “Our joy is to see him win more international medals for Pakistan.”

To ensure peak performance, Activit has arranged a pre-event training camp in the U.S., giving Nooh access to elite coaching and world-class facilities before facing the best on the planet.

🎯 From Florida World Championships, to the Commonwealth Games, to the Asian Games, Nooh’s path is clear — one goal at a time, one lift at a time, leading toward global dominance.

🔊 “I don’t just have a mission — I have a vision,” says Dr. Rizwan Aftab Ahmed, CEO of Activit & Director of National Hospital DHA Lahore. “Nooh will leave behind a legacy that inspires future generations. I expect only one thing — victory.”

💪 The stage is set. The flag is ready. The Hulk is coming.
Let’s rally behind Nooh Butt as he powers toward greatness once more. 🇵🇰✨

🔥 Shanghai Showdown: Sinner crashes out with cramp, Djokovic digs deep in Brutal Heat 🥵🎾

The scorching courts of the Shanghai Masters 2025 delivered high drama on Sunday as World No. 2 Jannik Sinner was forced to retire mid-match due to severe cramping in extreme heat and humidity, ending his title defense in heartbreak. 💔

Facing Tallon Griekspoor in the third round, Sinner was trailing 6-7(3), 7-5, 3-2 after 2 hours and 36 minutes of punishing baseline rallies when cramps in his thigh left him unable to continue. Once dominant over Griekspoor (6-0 H2H), the Italian was visibly in distress from the second set, resorting to ice towels and barely able to move between points. 🧊😓

🎙️ “This is not the way you want to win,” said Griekspoor. “Conditions have been brutal all week. I wish Jannik a quick recovery.”

With Carlos Alcaraz already out due to an ankle injury, the tournament has blown wide open — and Novak Djokovic is ready to pounce. The Serbian legend survived his own battle, coming from a set down to defeat Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a 2 hour 45-minute thriller.

🏟️ “With 80% humidity, this takes a real toll,” Djokovic said. “I had to dig deep. Full credit to Yannick — he came out firing.”

As the heat rises in Shanghai, so does the intensity — and the Djoker now has his eyes firmly set on a record fifth title in Shanghai. 🏆
