Wazir Mohammad (1929-2025) was instrumental in securing Pakistan its first win against England.

In the 1954 Test at the Oval, Wazir was runout in the first innings while saving Kardar’s wicket. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 42 to take Pakistan to 164. Pakistan went on to bowl England out for 143, and win by the slim margin of 24.

His passing on the 13th of October is a monumental loss to cricket in Pakistan.

Wazir Mohammad’s passing on October 13 is a monumental loss to cricket in Pakistan.
